In between two worlds

With its fluid form, the new COYA design series for Dornbracht captures the beauty in contradiction

The elegant introduction of an entirely new design context: for Dornbracht, we have created the COYA fitting series, which confidently navigates the dynamic interplay of contrasts – circle and square converge to form a flowing silhouette, seamlessly unified as one. As a reinterpretation of Transitional Style, the series brings aesthetic worlds together. Its progressive design ethos and versatility are extended through a curated selection of finishes and customisable handle elements.

At first glance, COYA intrigues with an almost counterintuitive quality, yet immediately reveals a supreme coherence. The starting point for our new design series was to develop an unexpected yet pioneering design language, one that redefines boundaries and delivers an expressive presence across diverse environments. And this is reflected in the result: COYA captivates with emotional resonance, defines style and is exceptionally versatile.

COYA’s extraordinary design is based on the fusion of seemingly contrasting geometries that combine to form a harmonious whole. At its core is the so-called “squircle” shape: a fluid contour that unites circle and square into an inseparable composition. Neither round nor angular, neither purely geometric nor organic, the fitting is intentionally conceived to move between worlds – within a dynamic interplay of styles, it holds the potential to become an icon.

“COYA is a series that resists definition – and that is precisely where its strength lies,” says Michael Sieger. “We were searching for a shape that wouldn’t resolve dichotomies, but instead generate productive tension. We were drawn to the inherent beauty of contradiction.”

The squircle’s shape is reflected in every element of the fitting in a harmonious and cohesive manner – from the cross-section of the base and the upward curve of the spout to the rosettes and control elements, whose silhouette echoes its distinctive geometry.

COYA’s openness is a defining principle. It integrates effortlessly into both classic interiors and contemporary architecture, into private residences and sophisticated hotel projects. Our core concept of breaking down stylistic boundaries is equally expressed in the range of customisation options. In addition to eleven finishes, including Chrome, Champagne (22 ct gold) and the newly developed PVD surface Brushed Dark Bronze, interchangeable handle inlays open up inspiring possibilities for individual expression. Through the Dornbracht Atelier, materials such as precious and natural stones can be incorporated, transforming the fitting into a personalised, one-of-a-kind piece.

We have extended the COYA design concept throughout the bathroom – from the washstand and shower to a comprehensive range of accessories. The towel holders also embrace the squircle form, for example. In addition to the three-hole fitting and single-lever mixer available in two heights, a two-hole version is offered – and we have also developed a new rain shower head, which will be introduced with the fitting series.

COYA will be unveiled to the public at Milan Design Week 2026. It is the latest fitting series from our collaboration with Dornbracht, which began in 1985 and has shaped almost the entire design language within the bathroom and kitchen portfolio. Hardly any partnerships between a design studio and a manufacturer in the international sanitary industry can match its longevity, consistency and impact.
