For Poggenpohl’s international project business, sieger design has developed a versatile kitchen programme with sophisticated functions and features
The kitchen forms the centrepiece of any residential property. For the project business of new partner Poggenpohl, sieger design developed the modular kitchen furniture programme ARC, which provides architects and developers with numerous functional and aesthetic options for cost-effective solutions – and thus plenty of scope when implementing premium individual kitchens. With versatile design elements like the Smart Storage Bar, the design concept ensures that a passion for cooking takes centre stage.
As the focal point of the home, the kitchen is the place for chatting, celebrating, laughing and individually preparing food. A great many work processes take place here between the water point and the stove. For the requirement profile and development of the ARC project kitchen, sieger design made use of its years of experience in analysing these application areas, including with the design of high-quality kitchen fittings for Dornbracht. The central element in the ARC programme is the Smart Storage Bar – a mobile storage system that is positioned on the counter or island unit and incorporates individual functional modules in variable sizes. It offers space for the ingredients and utensils that need to be close at hand during cooking, such as fresh herbs, oils, spices, knives and small digital devices displaying recipes that need to be conveniently read and added to during cooking. Individual kitchen zones can thus be arranged as desired and with various levels of expansion.
In developing the functional oak or black-ash modules for the Smart Storage Bar, sieger design sought to facilitate their use in the interior organisation of drawers and to ensure that they could be easily switched out. The lateral design profiles provide additional enhancement to the drawers. These modules are available in three set arrangements depending on the level of expansion of the Smart Storage Bar: as a profile with five surface finishes from aluminium to walnut, as an LED profile that illuminates for 30 seconds once the drawer is opened, and as a bevel-cut design profile that lends a more delicate look to the side bolsters.
sieger design based the ARC kitchen furniture on an existing corpus system. To lend the ARC fronts an individual feel, the team developed a family of striking black handles to underscore the furniture’s straight lines – a handle strip, a rail and a knob in a range of lengths.
Alongside the product design, sieger design’s holistic concept also includes accompanying communication measures and the development of the exclusive Poggenpohl ARC Showroom in Herford – accessible to architects and developers only – presenting four different application examples, along with an ARC kitchen planning forum. This allows the configuration of the programme’s extensive range with select materials, finishes, colours and intelligent features.
