As designers, we observe society, its changes and its needs more closely than perhaps any other professional group. We see ourselves as indicators of seismic shifts in attitude, perceiving new tendencies before they have taken shape. Our impressions and analyses determine our strategy and the special lines of our products. At the same time, we try to reflect the inherent character and the personality of the item. This allows us to maintain an archetypal and thus timeless design as the foundation of all areas – particularly in developments for key areas of the home, such as the bathroom and kitchen.
The financial crisis was a major turning point in recent history, representing a seismic change in attitudes. However, we are convinced that the habits and requirements, the basic views and desires of society will not change very radically. Tendencies that had started before the financial crisis will continue to develop in the near future – some more quickly and some more slowly than others. One such trend will surely be the democratisation of luxury and soft socialisation, as well as a development that can be described as “from me to we”. Digitalisation, the Internet and social networks will also open up new possibilities and options. The return to high quality and lasting value will play a decisive role. Consumers will cultivate their own individual but increasingly unpretentious style. Minimalism and the “new normal” are therefore factors that influence our work. Design is going back to its roots, giving products in a range extensive external similarities. This means that it’s not design but functionality that takes prime importance. Washing or bathing is no longer just about the act itself but also involves the questions of how and where – for example in a cosy, revitalising environment, an oasis away from the stress of everyday life. Overall, sustainability, minimalist design and innovation that combine functionality and use are the key parameters that have defined our innovations in 2011. We hope this gives you the opportunity to obtain lots of interesting impressions from the world of design. Happy reading!
